Horton Highway Utility District operates our gas system with an emphasis on safety.  We are required to design, operate and maintain our underground natural gas pipeline system in accordance with prescribed federal safety standards.  Horton Highway Utility District is not responsible for customer owned service lines.  Gas piping beyond the meter is the property of the customer, and should be checked periodically by a licensed plumber or heating and cooling contractor to ensure safe, reliable operation of these buried gas lines.  If underground (metallic) gas piping is not properly maintained, it may be subject to corrosion and/or leakage.
